The Quinta do Barranco Longo was founded in 2001 by Rui Virgínia, at Casa Agrícola do Algoz, in the municipality of Silves. In a region where wines had lost recognition, Rui Virgínia started a project with the aim of revitalizing local viticulture and producing high-quality wines.
With 120 hectares of area, of which 20 hectares are planted with vines on clay-limestone soils, the quinta adopts sustainable agricultural practices and modern winemaking techniques. The quinta's portfolio includes a variety of white, red, and rosé wines, with emphasis on labels such as "KO Late Harvest", a dessert wine that reflects the quinta's commitment to quality and innovation.
Viticulture in the Algarve has deep roots, dating back more than 2,500 years. The Algarve wine sector has experienced a renaissance in recent years, with the revitalization of traditional grape varieties such as Negra Mole, Castelão, Síria, and Arinto, and the pursuit of quality wines that reflect the unique character of the region.
